8.30am Christmas morning... a frosty start to a truly beautiful crisp clear sunny day.
I took this photo last week, about 1km from the house, whilst out walking the dog - it was such a beautiful morning! I think that's the Pic du Midi to the left... I haven't had time to post it before, as we had guests staying, and I've been trying to get to grips with the New Sewing Machine! Also, at the weekend we went to a Foire des Antiquités at Soumoulous, which is just this side of Pau. It was quite a large 2-day event, lots and lots of stuff ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, I bought two old hatstands (sort of carved wooden sticks with a mushroom on top) for 30 euros, and Nick bought an old country house post box - the sort you leave in the hall, and the staff come and empty it once a day and post your letters! - for 10 euros, so we came home happy. Also Gypsy the Dog was much admired, she was very well-behaved and six or seven local old Bearnaise chaps came to offer their opinions on her breed: their guess is as good as mine, as she was adopted at 4 months from the wonderful Phoenix Rescue in the Dordogne, and nobody really knows what she is... other than beautiful!
